Speeding up your computer

Tired of your sluggish computer performance? Then you are at the right place. There are many reasons as to why computers develop a slower performance over time. In this article, we look at some of the ways to increase the speed of computers.
INCREASING THE SPEED OF COMPUTERS
DELETE JUNK FILES
After an extended period of computer operation, junk files accumulate making it execute commands slowly as a result of the large junk files. These files are simply temporary files that are created by the operating system to facilitate some operation. For instance, if you install a program, the installer first extracts the executable then copies them over to the applications folder. When done, the temporary files might not be deleted. Hence the need to manually remove them on a regular basis.
Regularly scan the computer
It is widely known that computer malware and viruses are the number one causes of stalling the computers performance. Viruses have creative ways of entering networks which make it harder to identify them. It is advised always to install and update a good anti-malware and virus software, so as to keep these harmful elements at bay.
Defragment hard drives
When data sits on a hard disk, parts of it scatter all over the hard drives memory making them fragmented. When you try reading the data, the computer takes longer to assemble the files and make them usable. Even worse is that the computer will be forced to do this every time you access the data, degrading the overall performance. The best way to deal with this is to defragment the data. All the primary operating systems come with a utility to do that. So make sure to do this regularly, and if an operating system allows for scheduled defrag sessions, then it is advised to go with it.
Upgrade
The advantages of computers are that they are easily upgradeable. With most of their parts being swappable. If you want to make your computer fast enough to handle heavy applications, you can easily get a new processor and extra RAM. The more the ram an operating system has at its deposal, the better it will perform. It is important to note that most computers with a 32-bit processor will only support up to 4GB of RAM. Therefore, it is important to upgrade to a 64-bit based processor of you intend to add more than 4GB of RAM.
